The National Association for Primary School Heads (NAPH) in Matabeleland South ball games have kicked off in Mangwe District, which is this year’s host.

Seven districts across Matabeleland South province have gathered in Plumtree town for the NAPH ball games, with Dingumuzi Primary School selected as the host school. However, Dingumuzi Primary has diverted the majority of the disciplines to its neighbouring sister school, Plumtree High.

“We chose Plumtree High to host most of our ball games disciplines as they have adequate resources and multi-sport facilities in one place,” said Mr Charles Nleya, Head of Dingumuzi Primary School and Mangwe District NAPH Chairperson.

Nleya noted that such events give exposure to the schools and help develop on-site infrastructure.

“Our learners will come in large numbers on the final day to witness and support their colleagues on this momentous occasion. This is our second host provincial ball game since 2019. We wish local parents could attend so they can witness what other schools have achieved in terms of development,” he added.

Matabeleland South NAPH Provincial Chairman Mr Silas Moyo said the event is ending on Thursday.

“We have a total of eight ball game disciplines, which are volleyball, soccer, foot golf, netball, rugby, handball, tennis, and basketball. All seven districts in Matabeleland South are participating.

“These games enable our learners to fully showcase their skills. They align with the new Heritage-Based Curriculum. The white-collar job is now a thing of the past. We want our learners to be job creators, not job seekers,” said Moyo
