FORMER Highlanders FC hit man Ralph Matema says all is well at his Mpumalanga National First Division side Witbank Spurs. Matema who has found a home at Spurs, believes the first half of the season was full of disappointments.The former crowd favourite striker at Bosso said all the players are ready for the second half of the season and are determined to put the club at the top.
Matema who once played for Soweto giants Orlando Pirates had injuries plaguing his career at the Bucs leading to the former African champions releasing him to Spurs three seasons ago.
Before going south, he was also a revelation to the Bulawayo giants on numerous occasions. He believes the Bucs experience is history and this is his rebirth in football.
“In the first half of the season we played but there wasn’t much fire power. This time around what I saw from the camp is pleasing and the mood is high as if we have already won promotion,” he said.
The player, who has scored one goal so far this season, says he is not bothered about that as he is a team player.
“I’m thrilled about the contribution I have done to Spurs and I will continue creating scoring opportunities for my teammates,” he said.
Witbank Spurs are in position seven with 19 points on the 16-team log table. Matema believes they have a better chance of winning the championship.
“What we have to do is to up our game, start collecting maximum points, with the (coming) outing being the Saturday afternoon match against Thanda Royal Zulu FC at Umhlathuze Sports Complex.”
Spurs is also home to former Young Warriors twins Peter and Patrick Mubaiwa.
