MATABELELAND North’s “Crazy for Good”  Copa Coca-Cola representatives Hwange and Mosi-Oa-Tunya High Schools are  bubbling with confidence ahead of the Under-16 boys and Under-17 girls’ national soccer championships to be held at Sakubva High School in Mutare this Friday.

Hwange High School boys have set the bar high this time as they seek to build on their third place finish at the last tournament.

Deputy headmistress Sabina Sitole said they want to make an impact in the tournament.

“We have prepared hard this time around because we want to improve on our third place finish last year and we are confident we can do it,” said Sitole.

Pool B favourites’ Hwange will clash with Bulawayo champions Gifford and Manicaland’s Gaza High School in the group stages.

Hwange boast youngsters such as Shaun Phumulo and Tapiwa Tshuma.

Sitole is confident that they can reach the final if they avoid defending champions Mzingwane High School along the way.

Mosi-Oa-Tunya High School girls are keen to win the trophy for the resort town of Victoria falls which played host to the tournament last year.

Mosi-Oa-Tunya are in Pool A with defending champions Vainona and Selonga High Schools.

Coach Irene Mwanza believes they can reach the semi-finals despite the fact that they are drawn in the toughest group.

“We are confident we can reach the semi-finals though we are in a tough group that has defending champions,” said Mwanza.

Hwange and Mosi-Oa-Tunya will travel to the Eastern Highlands tomorrow.
