The Botswana Vultures will be using the game as part of their preparations for the Confederation of African Rugby Africa Cup Group 1C competition which they will play host to next month.
Old Miltonians’ gaffer Vusumuzi “Vee” Ndebele who will lead the team across the Ramokgwebana River said they would take along a full strength squad.
Matabeleland Select will be drawn from the three National Rugby League clubs which are Matabeleland Warriors, Old Miltonians and Western Panthers.
“Our preparations are going on well with the turnout at our training sessions being remarkable. It seems the players are raring to go. At Tuesday’s training session, we had about 38 players and tomorrow we will announce our travelling 22,” Ndebele said.
Ndebele is likely to go for both experienced and up-and-coming players.
Matabeleland Warriors’ trio of winger Lloyd Machanjaira, centre Paul Staak and Jan Ferreira have been ruled out for the Botswana trip.
Machanjaira and Fereira are with the national team that will take on South African franchise side Valke at Harare Sports Club tomorrow while Staak has personal commitments.
From Western Panthers, players who stand a chance of being selected for the Botswana trip include former Cheetahs star Silethokuhle “Slatter” Ndlovu, Masimba Musiyapinda, Irvine “Bhuda” Nduwa, Knowledge Moyo and Tichaona Mupamadzi.
They will be fighting for places with stars from Matabeleland Warriors who include Lucky Sithole, Moses Makhiwa, Ozy Lynx, Dumi Bhebhe, Velile Dube and Jafet Ndebele, ex-Miltonian Terence Kuvarega, Percy Ncube and Tapiwa Mangezi.
Mangezi is also the Matabeleland Rugby Football Board chairman.
Veterans George Savada, Theo Weale and Justin McKay are expected to lead a youthful Old Miltonians side that has Tawanda Mhora, Sandile Lupuana and Ezekiel Moyo into the Matabeleland Select squad.
