THE last surviving victim of a Matobo fire that claimed the lives of four children last month, has succumbed to the severe burns at United Bulawayo Hospitals where she was admitted for the past month. Limukani Mnguni (20) of Tshipisane Village in Matobo district was sleeping in the shop with the four children that included her own daughter when it was gutted by fire caused by a petrol container that exploded.

Limukani left a gas stove on as she slept with the children aged between two and 11 years and this ignited a petrol container which then exploded. The whole shop was engulfed in flames and three of the children were burnt beyond recognition. The fourth child died on her way to hospital.

Limukani’s father Possent Mnguni yesterday confirmed his daughter’s death on Sunday and said she will be buried today in Matobo.

“Limukani who was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for almost a month, passed on last Sunday,” Mnguni said.
