FORMER Chicken Inn head coach, Prince Matore, has expressed excitement about his new role as the head coach of Zifa Central Region Division One side Sheasham.
Matore, who will be assisted by ex-Warriors striker Luke Petros-Jukulile, is eager to make a positive impact at the Gweru-based Construction Boys.
“It’s a new challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to doing a good job with my other members of the technical team. It’s always exciting to get a new challenge in your career,” Matore said.
Matore’s appointment comes after Sheasham parted ways with Lizwe Sweswe, who had been at the helm since 2023. Despite bolstering his squad with experienced players like Ray Lunga, Rahman Kutsanzira, and Kim Joe Sibanda, Sweswe’s tenure was marked by a challenging spell that saw the team finish fourth in the league, falling short of its promotion goal.
Sweswe’s departure was a mutual decision and he has expressed his readiness to consider new offers and return to the dugout.
During his time at Sheasham, Sweswe also focused on developing the team’s junior structures, inviting young players to join the team’s youth ranks.
Matore, who was with Kwekwe United last season, has a wealth of experience, having guided the team to the top-flight league, a historic feat for the City of Gold.
With his expertise and Petros-Jukulile by his side, Sheasham will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing season and make a push for promotion.— @FungaiMuderere
