KAKORA Primary School in Chiweshe will this morning play host to the inaugural Paul Matsuku Soccer Tournament where four schools will battle it out for a floating trophy and medals.

The schools namely Kakora, St Albans, Bellrock, and Kanyemba will participate in the tournament organised by Mbare-based Real Stars coach and Mbare Junior Football chairman, Stanley Denver.

Denver said the idea is to give back to the community and help identify talent from rural schools while allowing the young talents to showcase themselves.

“As someone who grew up in Chiweshe, where there were limited opportunities for players, it is my wish to give them an opportunity. There is a lot of talent in the rural areas but they have limited opportunities so we will have some scouts at the tournament.

“We are going to have a select team that will visit Harare and play against some teams like Kuyamurana, Real Stars, and Highgate among others. I am looking forward to making it an annual event that will culminate in a national event with time.

“I hope we will have some players making it and becoming professional players,” said Denver.

Denver was excited some people came on board to ensure the event was a success.
