ENERGY and Power Development Minister Dzikamai Mavhaire has dissolved eight boards of state enterprises, including Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa). Minister Mavhaire said the boards’ tenure ended on December 31 last year, and most of their members would not be retained because they lack “vision” to solve the country’s power generation problems.
“I’m not happy. I’m not enjoying the job they have done during their time.
“I think I need a new team with a clear vision,” Mavhaire told a news conference in Harare yesterday.
He said he wanted “people who’re able to understand my orientation, people who’re able to understand where I’m going.”
The dissolved boards are from the Zimbabwe Power Company chaired by Victor Gapare, Power Tel (Francis Chirumuuta), Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company (Steven Hazangwi), Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Canada Malunga), Rural Electrification Agency (Engineer John Mberi), Zesa Enterprises (Engineer Andrew Nyambayo), National Oil Infrastructure Company (Chriswell Gombera) and Petrotrade (Kenias Mafukidze).
“Accordingly, the boards of the above-mentioned energy state enterprises have been dissolved.
“New boards shall be appointed in due course,” Minister Mavhaire said.
