My name is Cde Mavis Gumbo. I intend to represent the people of Harare East as a Member of the House of Assembly for Harare East Constituency during the 26 March 2022 by-elections.
Why vote Mavis Gumbo
I am a resident of Harare East Constituency and have been for more than three decades, which gives me first-hand knowledge and experience of the issues that affect our constituency.
As the people’s representative for Harare East, I pledge to diligently invest my experience, influence and expertise towards speaking for our constituency and electorate to get the best for them.
As a key and immediate priority, I intend to work together with relevant Government ministries and engage in progressive partnerships with like-minded entities to address the challenges faced by the constituency.
Some of these challenges include, but not limited to, poor road and communications networks, rise in criminal activities and generally poor urban service delivery.
Message to voters
As a candidate, I offer the following without reserve:
True representation and continuous feedback engagements with the electorate
Development oriented unity within Harare East Constituency and among all Zimbabweans regardless of race, class or creed in pursuit of national objectives.
Holding the councils (City of Harare) accountable to their service delivery mandates, including health, sanitation, housing and amenities delivery and recreation
Facilitating the establishment and development of business incubation hubs
Implementing women and youth focused empowerment initiatives for broad-based empowerment
Encouraging corporate social responsibility initiatives for inclusive community development
Empowerment and job opportunities for all constituents through the establishment of youth and women business mentorship programmes
Unlocking opportunities for employment creation through sports and recreation
Encouraging local authorities to set up quotas for allocation of residential and commercial stands for youths and women
Spearheading the establishment of modern state-of-the-art market stalls for entrepreneurs within the constituency
Intensified business start-up, linkage, information sharing, skills development and sustainability support for all entrepreneurs
