ZIMBABWEAN coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe has applied for the vacant post to become the Eswatini national team coach.
Jongwe hopes to be successful where Callisto Pasuwa failed. Pasuwa came agonisingly close to be confirmed as Sihlangu coach in 2018, but the Eswatini Football Association eventually settled for Serbian coach, Kostadin Papic.
Papic signed a one-year contract which was not renewed after he failed to impress.
B-Metro Sport can exclusively confirm that former Caps United coach, Jongwe has thrown his name in the ring.
His curriculum vitae was submitted by his handlers a fortnight ago. Jongwe feels confident because EFA president, Adam Bomber Mthethwa seems to be leaning towards an African coach.
“Please find attached a copy of a detailed CV for Maxwell Takendesa Jongwe, an experienced CAF A licensed coach. He has coaching experience in the Zimbabwe Premiership and was once the Zimbabwe Football Technical Director, I do not hesitate to recommend him for the post of head coach,” read the email with an attached curriculum vitae.
Some of the coaches said to have applied include Free State Stars’ Milton Dlamini, Moneni Pirates and Eswatini U20 coach Gcina Magiyane Dlamini and Young Buffaloes Dominic Kunene.
Eswatini look to have a substantive coach before the Afcon qualifers resume in May.
