The Harare Mayor’s Cheer Fund on Tuesday donated groceries to 10 charity organisations and three hospitals. Speaking at the disbursement in Harare, mayor Councillor Bernard Manyenyeni said it had not been easy to raise Christmas funds for the needy due to the economic challenges. “We would have loved to do much more for you but we could not because of the economic challenges upon us as a people. We are, however, confident that the little we have managed to put together will bring smiles to your faces”, he said.

Cllr Manyenyeni urged Harare residents to work closely with the city to achieve a world class city by 2025. “If we work together — Government, residents, civil society and the city, we will be able to achieve the gaol of a city that we all want,” he said.

During his tour of Wilkins Hospital, Mbare Polyclinic and Beatrice Road Infectious Diseases Hospital the mayor applauded the City Health department for maintaining good service delivery system despite the economic challenges.
