MUTARE Mayor, Councillor, Tatenda Nhamarare today (Friday) launches the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund at Meikles Park at 10am.
Clr Nhamarare said as per tradition the goods raised will be donated to the less privileged in the city. The Mutare Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund has been running for over 10 years.
He said he was grateful to the new outlets in Mutare, namely Sisco, Mutare Farm Supply and Metro Peach, that considered it a worthy cause to contribute towards the Fund, regardless of the existing economic difficulties.
“Regardless of the economic difficulties at hand in our country we still have to have the spirit of Ubuntu. The less-privileged will always need our help.
“I am thankful to our traditional sponsors like TM Supermarket, OK Supermarket, Mutare Bottling Company, Telecel, Christ Embassy and many others I cannot mention.
“It is also encouraging when new players in the city come on board to assist like Sisco, Mutare Farm Supply and Metro Peach,” said the Mayor.
Clr Nhamarare said he would announce the total value of the goods today as some were still coming in by time of going to press last Wednesday.
