MUSICIAN Ranson Madzamba aka Mazarura has dedicated his hit song Mukoma Ranga to men and women who sacrificed their lives to ensure the nation attains freedom.
His dedication aligns with this year’s Heroes Day theme, “Lest We Forget”, as he goes back to the Afro fusion genre track which was released last year and was produced by Dr Carsol. The song is a regular on local radio stations as the nation heads towards the commemoration of Heroes Day every year on August 10.
Mazarura’s catalogue continues to shine and he is known for tracks among them Vision 2030 Tinosvika/ Siyafila jingle, Tinochema Magamba, Africa and Say no to Drug and Substance Abuse.
He said Mukoma Ranga is ever meant to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for an independent Zimbabwe where liberty, fratenity nd equality now flourish.
“Mukoma Ranga represents all those heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives to join the liberation struggle and managed to topple the autocratic regime of Ian Smith. Sadly and unfortunately Mukoma Ranga represents thousands of those comrades who lost their lives in the battles to free Zimbabwe and the song is just saying lest we forget those who died fighting to free our great country.
“They died for us to enjoy the peace and tranguility we are enjoying today. My message is clear, to all Zimbabweans and fellow artistes. Let us remain patriotic. Let us all be engulfed by our freedom fighters spirit of having Zimbabwe first in whatever we do. We must remain vigilent as the yeaster year enemy is still with us and ever finding ways to undermine our freedom be it socially and economically.The freedom fighters played their part and it is upon every Zimbabwean, especially the youths, to make sure we all play a role in the economic discourse of our country,” said Mazarura.
