Mbada golf tournament washed off

that was meant to be held at the Bulawayo Golf Club yesterday.

The tournament will now be held at the same place next week.

Bulawayo Golf Club manager, Phillip McDemott confirmed the cancellation due to heavy rains.

“It has been raining a lot and the course was simply not playable and we had to postpone the event to next week at the same venue,” said McDemott.

The society plays monthly tournaments in different venues in the city and last month they were at Bulawayo Country Club.

“They are not really stationed at one club but move around. They play once a month,” said McDemott.

They use the betterball stableford format in their play and only amateurs take to the tee-box.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) will hold its annual fundraising golf day at Chapman Golf Club in the capital in March. The tournament seeks to raise funds towards the ICAZ Foundation and many other charities.

The Institute used to sponsor students from the University of Zimbabwe, National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and Africa University but now  want to broaden the sponsorship to include more institutions.
