ROOKIES Christian Mbanga and Clive Nguru will make their debut professional golf careers when the Zambezi Tour hosts the Open Classic at Chapman today.
The former amateur national team players will rub shoulders with several seasoned professionals in the US$10 000-purse tournament with high hopes of making an impact.

The duo turned professional early this year with Mbanga relocating to South Africa in a bid to improve his career as there are several events across the Limpopo.

Zambezi Tour marketing and communications manager Tendayi Gwatiringa confirmed the tournament.

“The 2014 Open Classic will be held at Chapman Golf Club, from Friday, with a fairly strong field featuring the likes of Ryan Cairns and Greg Bentley who have been featuring on the Sunshine Tour.

“The format will be StrokePlay and shall be played over 36 holes.

“There are also some South Africans who have confirmed their participation in the entries which closed last Friday and they include John Bele, Tsietsi Chabangu, Tebogo Sefatsa and Thabang Simon while the Zambian contingent of Michael Chiluba, Madalitso Muthiya and Patrick Mwendapole are also expected,” Gwatiringa said.
