Mbanje grower arrested with 37 plants

A 49-year-old man from Arda Transau was last week arrested for growing 37 plants of mbanje.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said detectives discovered the plants which had an average height of 1,7 metres to two metres at Arnold Gamunorwa’s home.

“We received a tip-off that Gamunorwa had cultivated 37 plants of mbanje at his homestead at Arda Transau Resettlement area. Detectives visited the homestead and quizzed him about the issue. Upon interrogation, he revealed that he cultivated the plants at the backyard. He is assisting us with investigations,” said Insp Kakohwa.
