MBERENGWA Rural District Council (RDC) has partnered with the Messianic Jewish Voice Ministry to refurbish, equip, and upgrade the Mposi Clinic in Ward 16, Danga area.
The partnership, which is in line with the Second Republic’s philosophy of “leaving no one and no place behind”, aims to bring quality healthcare services closer to the people, bridging the gap in access to medical care that has long plagued the community.
By providing advanced medical services at Mposi Clinic, residents of Danga will no longer have to travel extensive distances to access healthcare at Mnene, Msume, Masase, or Mberengwa District Hospitals, thereby enhancing their well-being and contributing to the attainment of Vision 2030’s goals for a healthier, more equitable society.
In an interview, Mberengwa RDC chief executive officer, Mr Thompson Maeresera said through public-private partnerships, devolution, and the decentralisation agenda, the Second Republic has spearheaded the construction of clinics and hospitals across the district.
“We owe it to the Second Republic that is advocating for rural industrialisation by opening up opportunities for us, like this partnership with Messianic Jewish Voice Ministry for the refurbishment, equipping and upgrading of Mposi Clinic,” he said.
Mr Maeresera also indicated that the district had also benefitted a lot and saw the construction of Mataga Mini Hospital and Marirazhombe among others.
“Mataga Mini Hospital at Mataga Growth Point is a game changer in the health delivery system for the district. Through the funded devolution we have also constructed several health care institutions,” he said.
Mr Maeresera said the partnership will see the church-based organisation undertaking extensive refurbishment of existing infrastructure, the construction of additional facilities, and the provision of critical medical equipment and supplies.
National Overseer of the Messianic Jewish Voice Ministry, Mr Alfius Matandu, emphasised their commitment to serving all members of the community.
“We need to provide medicine at this facility and doctors to examine patients whenever need be. Service vehicles and X-ray machines are also our priority and we are going to outsource that. This programme is going to transform the lives of people around here, not only the Remba’s, but the doors are open to all,” he said.
Mposi Clinic’s Sister-in-Charge Mr Edson Shoko, noted that the initiative at the health care facility will ease challenges encountered by the local community.
“We had some medical outreach programmes together lately and it has proved that Jewish Ministries can offer excellent medical assistance to patients. Upon resuming operations at Mposi Clinic, they have pledged to establish more infrastructure like a maternity facility, and eye unit, as well as offering dental services,” he said.
Mr Shoko said people used to travel for X-ray services to Zvishavane, but was quick to note that with this latest development, the health institution is going to be a one-stop centre.
According to a villager Mr Travis Moyo, the Jewish church used to carry out some medical outreach programmes around Danga area from 2012.
“They used to offer top-notch attention. So by taking full control of this clinic, we are rest assured of the availability of critical services,” he said.
