A MBERENGWA small-scale gold miner has been commended for heeding President Mnangagwa’s call, ‘Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo ’, after starting construction of a community school in Bvute Communal lands.
Dr David Kilpin, who operates Jumbo 91 and 93 Block in village 5, is building a primary school which will have an initial enrolment of 450 pupils as a way of uplifting the community.
The development has been hailed as a model community development initiative that is in sync with the National Development Strategy 2 and Vision 2030.
Mberengwa District Development Coordinator (DDC) Mr Vafios Hlavati hailed Dr Kilpin as an agent of community development, saying his planned school will transform education in Bvute and Mberengwa in general.
“We need more investors like him (Dr Kilpin) who follow the President’s philosophy of Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo, and the ultimate goal is for pupils to walk less than 5km to the nearest school, that is NDS2 in motion,” said Mr Hlavati.
“We want investors and business operators who follow the President’s Vision, and we are happy when investors plough back to communities where they are operating. This will add impetus to Vision 2030 of making Zimbabwe an upper middle-income economy.”
The Mberengwa DDC pledged to extend to Dr Kilpin the requisite assistance to fulfil his dream of building a primary school in Bvute.
“Our doors are wide open to make sure that he(Dr Kilpin) has the required support to complete the school project that will expand education in rural Mberengwa, we are more than excited,” he added.
The school is expected to open its doors next year and has already created jobs for locals who are supplying farm bricks and building it.
