A 19-YEAR-OLD man from Kuse village, Mberengwa, Midlands Province has been slapped with a 3-year prison sentence for having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl.
In Zimbabwe, the law prohibits sexual activities with children below the age of 18.
In a statement on X, The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, “A 19-year-old man from Kuse village, Mberengwa was arraigned before the Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court for having sexual intercourse with a child.”
“The accused person was found guilty of having sexual relations once with the complainant who is 14. The accused person was sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment of which 10 months was suspended for 5 years. He will serve 26 months’ imprisonment.”
