Mbira artist itches for recognition

TALENTED mbira artist, Evelyn ‘Nicole Livet’ Singizi, has released her highly anticipated single titled Unorema.

The 23-yer-old Livet’s unique sound and thought-provoking lyrics have earned her recognition as a talented mbira artist. 

Unorema focuses on the experiences and challenges faced by the girl child in society. 

Livet’s dedication to advocating for the rights of the girl child shines through in the single, which calls on listeners to stand up against abuse, discrimination and neglect. 

With the traditional sounds of the mbira blended with modern elements, Unorema is a captivating and melodic track that draws listeners in. 

Through her music, Livet sheds light on prevalent issues of emotional abuse, discrimination, and neglect suffered by young girls, both in Zimbabwe and around the world.

Speaking to H-Metro, Livet said the single serves as a heartfelt plea to God, focusing on the experiences and challenges faced by the girl child in society.

“The lyrics serve as a call to action, urging listeners to stand up against abuse, discrimination, and neglect, and to prioritise the well-being and empowerment of young girls.

“Chiwoniso Maraire’s art is one of my biggest inspirations and advocating for the girl child and promoting our African culture through my music while uplifting my brand is part of my biggest priorities.”
