Several mbira artists will headline the Vharamatare Festival, which is part of a Thanksgiving cultural show set for October 19.
BeeSpirational Nakai said this is an important cultural event where the artists converge for a noble cause, including thanking God for His blessings and protection.
The event will be held at Motor Action in Eastlea.
“It is a send-off and Thanksgiving show where we interact with God through our ancestors, that is the way we communicate to Musikavanhu.
“Vakarahwa ana Machembere will be going to discuss certain issues within our tribes.
“Historically, this time was set aside to prepare for the ploughing season, gathering seeds and doing the necessary preparations before the busy season.”
She added:
“This was a time that was set aside for discussions by the elders, what we call Kugarwa kwematare.
“This event is meant to be a celebration, a Thanksgiving one and we hope that there will be positive feedback to all our prayers.
“It is a coming together of artists who not only believe but appreciate our culture in every aspect.
“We are trying to drive the notion, dare tsitsi, dare kuregerera, dare rerudo.
“So at this event, we come together in love, kindness and celebration.
“There will be a sorojena moment with Nyamasvisva who will also teach the value of Vharamatare.”
Performances will come from Vee Mhofu, Amadhuve Sasha, Kurai Makore, Texas Tekenya, Taffie Matiure, MC Kessia aka Muchaneta, DJ Torne Zagaa and a cultural group from Zvimba.
