Speaking at the hand over ceremony on Tuesday, Dr Mbizvo said college and school libraries should be well-equipped in terms of information and communication technologies.
“I believe a library is the nerve centre of the teaching process and if it lags behind then the whole system fails.
“Our libraries should be equipped with the best text books and state-of-the-art computers so that internet accessibility is easy for all,” said Dr Mbizvo.
He said the 11 computers and the two modems would give students access to the world wide web and its academic resources. Zimbabwean institutions, Dr Mbizvo said, should get in tune with e-learning.
He, however, warned students against using internet services for the wrong reasons and said they should stick to school business and research.
“The internet provides both opportunities and threats and I advise the youth to stick to their research and nothing else as the internet is a wide pool of information,” he said.
Dr Mbizvo said Mupfure College could now offer a National Certificate in Information and Technology and increase its enrolment.
The equipment and 2 600 textbooks were purchased using an annual grant from the Zimbabwe Development Fund.
