A FORMER employee at Mbokodo butchery on the outskirts of Bulawayo has been arrested for stealing more than $2,000 from his ex-employer.
Chelesa Ntini, 45, of Pumula suburb, converted to his own use money realised from selling six cattle belonging to his employer.
Ntini appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso facing a theft charge.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentencing.
Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza said sometime in March 2014, Ntini approached Adam York, 37, the director of Mbokodo indicating that he had secured a deal to exchange calves with oxen in Lupane.
York was interested in the deal and gave Ntini six calves for the deal.
“The complainant got interested in the deal and gave the accused person six calves to be swapped for six oxen. He further directed that he sells the six oxen for $4,067 and hand over the cash,” said Mageza.
“Thereafter the accused person sold six oxen for $4,067 and converted $2,105 to his own use to the prejudice of the complainant.”
