Mbongeni Ignatius to perform at Eswatini Comedy Festival

AWARD winning comedian Mbongeni Ignatius Ndlovu from Bulawayo is set to perform at the Eswatini Comedy Festival in September.

He started comedy in 2020 and has performed at a number of prestigious events like the Intwasa Festival, Mahlekisa 10th Anniversary show and Clive Chigubu’s memorial show. He was also the first performer at the KwaNtuthu

Comedy Festival where he performed alongside international comedians.

Ndlovu said he was excited about the opportunity to perform outside the country.

“It is an honour. I do not take that privilege lightly and as I prepare to go there I know it is not only about me but Bulawayo and Zimbabwe. It is a big responsibility yet an opportunity to be exposed and grow. Performing outside the country for me is not a holiday to take pictures for Instagram but it is an opportunity to learn the craft until it is at my fingertips,” he said.

Ndlovu performed at the Eswatini Festival last year and indicated that the experience motivated him to grow in his craft.

“The experience was out of this world, it opened up my mind and gave me an urge to keep refining my craft in comedy writing and delivery of my jokes,” he said.
He stated that in the years to come, he hopes to grow from being a regional comedian to representing the country on international stages.

“The next five years for me will be a reflection of the lessons and experiences I am learning now. I see myself as a master in my craft who has heavily invested and by God’s grace, I will be a well-travelled international comedian,” he said.
