AMAZULU coach Benni McCarthy made an angry outburst against Zimbabwean opponent Kaitano Tembo after SuperSport United added to the Durban side’s woes in a goalless draw in the South African DStv Premiership football on Tuesday night.
The two coaches had a dig at each other on the sidelines of the highly charged contest at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium in Durban and McCarthy could not control his emotions with the television cameras right behind him.
McCarthy, who is desperate to get AmaZulu’s season back on track after a poor start both at home and in their maiden Caf Champions League, could be heard uttering despicable words addressed to Tembo.
“You have lost the last bit of respect that I had for you,” he said at the top of his voice.
“That’s why you’re broke… Your career, Seven Stars, Ajax… Listen, if you wanna get deep, then I get deep…,” he said furiously.
Tempers were extremely high for both teams as the game ended with 10 men after defenders Tercious Malepe and Luke Fleurs were sent off.
But a solid defensive show by SuperSport United frustrated McCarthy’s AmaZulu as they were looking to register their first win since the start of DStv Premiership season.
AmaZulu dropped to second from the bottom with the stalemate, while SuperSport United climbed into second position on the log standings with five points.
They have played three matches and are just two points below their Tshwane rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.
