THE MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League enters week four with some of the teams already feeling the pressure.

Early results are starting to shape the table, and the fight for promotion and survival is quietly taking form.

Surprise packages Chingwere lead the log standings with seven points.

The Mhondoro-based side, who had to battle through the boardroom for their place in the league, have the same number of points as Harare City, Jumbo Giants and Chegutu Pirates, with goal difference separating the teams. Chingwere are also one of the six NRSL teams that are yet to taste defeat this season.

Together with Harare City, Chingwere are one of the teams that have, also not conceded a goal.

League returnees Jumbo Giants and Chegutu Pirates, teams that struggled last season and were almost relegated, currently occupy third and fourth positions respectively.

With five goals to their credit, Jumbo Giants have so far scored the highest number of goals in the NRSL.

However, unlike the Chingwere and Harare City defences, which are watertight and yet to concede, Jumbo Giants’ defenders have already leaked three goals.

Cranborne Bullets anchors the log standings after managing a single point out of a possible nine.

Above them are Banket United, newcomers CP Chemicals and Golden Eagles, who all have one point each.

At this stage of the season, it is not just about points – it is about positioning.

Every match played now carries extra weight, because early form often sets the tone for what comes next.

As the table begins to take shape, teams on the front foot are building leads, while those in trouble are forced to chase results under pressure.

With the season still young, it is easy to underestimate how quickly the standings can tighten.

As week four unfolds, the NRSL is already revealing its key themes: pressure, urgency, and the early separation of ambition from uncertainty.

One thing is clear – this season is beginning to sort itself out, and teams will be watching the table closely as they look ahead to what each next result could decide.
