MDC losing candidate for Highfield West Onias Ndlela was on Tuesday evicted from his lodgings at Old Willowvale Flats after failing to pay rent for three months. Ndlela, his wife and three children had been staying at the flat for five years and was renting from two sisters Fari (23) and Nyaradzo Mude (19) for US$300 per month.

The wife and children have reportedly left for their Gokwe rural home, while Ndlela’s whereabouts are not known.
Their property is still outside the flat and it includes a bed, sofas, refrigerator, plates, clothes, blankets and a stove.

A new tenant has since been accommodated in the two-bedroomed flat.
According to Fari, Ndlela stopped paying rent and settling bills for the past three months and was in the habit of giving various excuses.

“We tried to evict him from the flat, but he would refuse and sometimes he would not unlock the doors for us when we tried to talk to him,” she said.

Ndlela is also alleged to have threatened the sisters.
He said that he was a politician and that nothing would happen to him.

He reportedly told the sisters that he should be given three months written notice so that he would vacate.
Sources said Ndlela, who has no other source of income, was getting money from the party, but the benevolent stopped after he lost the elections.

Efforts to get comment from Ndlela yesterday were fruitless as he his mobile phone went unanswered.
