Magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei, who presided over the matter, made the ruling after hearing submissions from both counsels. The nine’s defence team had made a bail application arguing that their clients were suitable candidates for bail.
However, the State led by Mr David Magwegwe opposed the application on the grounds that the accused persons were facing a serious offence.
Investigating officer, Detective Assistant Inspector Maria Phiri who testified against the nine said the accused persons were likely to commit similar offences if granted bail.
She made reference to one of the accused, Jefias Moyo, who has a pending case of murder of a policeman in Glen View where he is jointly charged with other MDC-T activists in a case recorded under CR376/5/11.
