MDC-T acting national chairperson Mr Morgan Komichi yesterday accused MDC-Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa of inciting violence that rocked the opposition’s headquarters, Harvest House on Thursday that saw rowdy youths destroying property and leaving three security officers injured.
Speaking in Harare yesterday, Mr Komichi said Mr Chamisa had convened a meeting in Chitungwiza a few days ago where he allegedly urged youths to engage in the violent repossession of Harvest House.
“The sad intention was to disturb our standing committee,” said Mr Komichi who was accompanied by the party’s secretary general, Mr Douglas Mwonzora.
There were running battles on Thursday among youths from two groups at Harvest House over the occupation of the building by the MDC-T party led by Dr Thokozani Khupe.
The Khupe-led MDC-T took over Harvest House after the Supreme Court ruled that leadership changes after 2014 had not been in accordance with the MDC-T’s own rules.
The High Court has since reserved judgment after the MDC-A led by Mr Chamis challenged the takeover of the building.
