MDC-T Chiredzi West MP in beerhall brawl

Mare (48) fought with Cde Richard Chauke (54) at a bar in Tshovani township in the wake of heated exchanges over President Mugabe’s rule.
Both Mare and Cde Chauke were arrested for the public fight that took place in April.

The pair’s trial delayed kicking off as Mare requested postponement to enable him to attend to parliamentary business in Harare.
Charges against Mare and Cde Chauke arose on April 15 when they allegedly engaged in fierce verbal exchanges, with Mare claiming President Mugabe was not the legitimate President of Zimbabwe.

This incensed Cde Chauke who confronted him demanding to know why he was denigrating the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

An altercation ensued which degenerated into a fist fight which was only stopped after the arrival of the police.
The two were arrested and taken to Chiredzi Central Police Station before being taken to court where they were placed on summons.

Mare has had brushes with the law in past and was once convicted of assaulting a 16-year-old school pupil at a funeral in the sugar growing town after the boy sang a song that exalted President Mugabe.
