ZANU-PF National Assembly candidate for Mpopoma-Pelandaba constituency Cde Joseph Tshuma has said President Mugabe is a God chosen leader who should be allowed to rule this country until he dies. Addressing scores of party supporters and residents who had come to receive a consignment of four tonnes of wheat and rice donated by President Mugabe for the less privileged in Mpopoma, Cde Tshuma said Zimbabweans were blessed to have a generous leader like President Mugabe.
“President Mugabe is a Christian who upholds biblical principles. He is so generous and always works towards assisting the needy. He has lived a long life because he is loved by God and should be allowed to rule this country until he dies,” said Cde Tshuma.
He said the President has since the attainment of independence in 1980, championed a lot of development projects that have earned Zimbabwe respect in the region.
Cde Tshuma criticised the MDC formations for failing to satisfy the expectations of the electorate during their term of office and assured residents that a Zanu-PF Government was ready to bring meaningful development if elected into office.
Zanu-PF Politburo member and Bulawayo Governor Cain Mathema, who handed over the donation expressed concern over the plight of the elderly and said Zanu-PF had lined up measures to improve their lives.
He said the revolutionary party was aware of the challenges facing the less privileged in society especially the elderly.
“Elderly people are entitled to decent living. They should not suffer because they are the ones who helped build Zimbabwe to be what it is today.
“If we win the election, President Mugabe will set up a fund for the support of the elderly and ensure that they get allowances for their daily upkeep,” said Cde Mathema.
He accused Zapu leader Dr Dumiso Dabengwa of fanning tribal divisions among Zimbabweans and abusing the name of the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo for political mileage.
“Dabengwa was in the Zanu-PF Cabinet and Politburo but now he is exchanging hugs with MDC on tribal grounds. Zimbabwe is diverse but we do not want tribalism.
“Dr Dabengwa is now selling out. What he is doing is useless. Today there are many versions of Zapu and Dr Nkomo died a Zanu-PF leader. Dr Dabengwa is confused, useyisitandari,” said Cde Mathema.
He urged residents to vote peacefully and desist from engaging in violence before, during and after the elections.
The meeting was also attended by Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Absalom Sikhosana, a Senatorial candidate for Mabutweni.
