THE trial of the two Mugwagwa brothers, who are facing attempted murder charges, could not kick off yesterday as the State is yet to obtain a medical report to ascertain the degree of injury sustained by the complainant.
The pair appeared on Wednesday before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Mr Mark Dzira, charged with attempted murder.
They are pleading not guilty to the charge.
Mr Dzira postponed the matter to 23 April, when Prince Mugwagwa and Nigel Mugwagwa will be served with State papers and advised of the trial date.
The Mugwagwa brothers are represented by Dr Tanaka Muganyi of Tanaka Law Chambers and Mr Simbarashe Innocent Madzivire of Mashayamombe Law Firm.
Ms Mhlanga told the court that the Mugwagwa brothers were at Cotton Kraal Bar, situated at Bradfield Shopping Centre, where they had a misunderstanding with Mkhonzeni Sibanda (40).
“They had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue. In the midst of that, Prince grabbed the complainant by the collar and rained fists on him. They kicked him all over the body with booted feet. The Mugwagwa brothers were joined by two other unidentified men who are on the run, punching and kicking him,” said Mr Moyo.
The complainant was rushed to hospital for medical attention. A medical report will be produced in court as an exhibit.
