OLD Hararians Legends FC fixtures-secretary, Malcolm Banisy, said social football plays a pivotal role in linking members to good networks.
The team is mainly made up of entrepreneurs, from different economic backgrounds, who utilise the platform to share business ideas, guidance and other issues.
The club was primarily formed by former Prince Edward Old Boys in 2014.
It has evolved over the years to become a dominant force in social football.
Speaking to H-Metro, Banisy said:
“Old Hararians Legends came through the Old Boys of Prince Edward School.
“In the past, Old Hararians used to be a rugby place only, and those of us who are not rugby fans, decided to play football.
“When we started the team, we struggled a lot to get results.
“The team was full of the old boys, so it was difficult to win games,” he said.
“So, we decided to blend in new blood so that we could have a competitive edge.”
He said they now have a competitive side.
“We have been so competitive and can challenge teams like Pan Jap and UZ Legends who have strong squads.
“Our core business is to link and network.
“Many people started their own businesses, through the exposure they get through our networking. “We help and support each other for our things to work out.
“We sometimes travel to other places like Kariba, Marondera and Murewa.
“We also use the time to enjoy ourselves.
“We have a few drinks after games while socialising.
“We are all club members and pay subscription fees to keep ourselves going,” he said.
Old Hararians Legends beat RBZ 3-0 last Sunday.
They face UZ Legends in their next game.
