A memorial service for seven people who died in a road accident in Hwedza was held at Mt St Marys Hospital in Hwedza, as relatives of the deceased were preparing to accompany their loved ones to their final place of rest.
The accident occurred at the 5 km peg on the Hwedza-Mutiweshiri Highway after the driver of the NissanCaravan they were travelling in lost control of the vehicle which then veered off the road and overturned several times before landing on its wheels.
Speaking during the memorial service Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona consoled the bereaved families and urged them to be strong.
He also took the opportunity to remind motorists to be cautious on the roads.
Minister Mhona also visited the injured who are admitted at Mt St Marys Hospital with Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tinoda Machakaire as well as Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Apollonia Munzverengwi.
