woman” for loitering before one of them raped her while the other watched.

Witmore Jinga (34) and Terrence Nhete (24) yesterday appeared in court charged with rape.
They were not asked to plead when they appeared before regional magistrate Mr William Bhila, who remanded them in custody to September 15. He advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.
Prosecutor Mr Michael Reza alleges that on August 28 at about 2am, the complainant – aged 18 – was going to Gunhill from Tomlison Depot beerhall where she had attended a musical show.

On her way, the State alleges, she met the two who stopped her and told her that she was under arrest.
Jinga allegedly grabbed her by the trousers and told Nhete to look for a stick so that they could beat her up.

After threatening her, it is alleged, they ordered the complainant to lie down and she complied. As she lay, the State alleges, Jinga raped her while Nhete watched.
After raping her they allegedly set her free. She later made a report that led to the pair’s arrest.
