THE Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare yesterday commemorated Men’s Day, emphasising the crucial role men play in society and the need to support their well-being.
The event, which coincided with the end of Men’s Month, brought together Government officials, stakeholders, and citizens to discuss key issues affecting men.
Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Advocate Mercy Dinha appreciated the important role that men play in society.
“The various roles you play, the different hats you wear, the responsibilities you carry, and the sacrifices you make are all acknowledged,” she said.
“You are the pillars of strength that provide stability and security for your families and the nation at large.”
Adv Dinha urged men to prioritise their health by managing stress and seeking medical care when needed.
“Men’s health is a critical issue that contributes to productivity in any organisation. Stress can have devastating effects on men’s mental health,” she said.
Adv Dinha encouraged men to practice stress management techniques, such as exercise and mindfulness, and to seek support when needed.
“Let us continue to support and empower fellow men in our society,” she said.
The event also highlighted the ministry’s commitment to promoting inclusive policies that support the well-being of all citizens, including men.
“As Government, we promise to stand by you and support you as we walk the journey together towards achieving our country’s Vision 2030,” Adv Dinha said.
“Let us celebrate the selfless love and dedication of men. May we continue to build a society that values and supports men at the workplace and in our homes.”
The celebration served as a platform for renewed commitment to gender equality and shared responsibility in building a stronger Zimbabwe.
