Metamorphic releases album

UP and coming Bulawayo-born gospel artiste, Fortune Mguni, known in music circles as Metamorphic, has released a Christian rap album titled The Chronicle of Metamorphic.
Metamorphic said he decided to produce the music as hip-hop as his target market was the youths who are more connected to the music genre.

“Most of the youths love hip-hop, I have decided to preach the word of God through hip-hop and like any other rapper my rhymes are deeper, more profound and definitely God-inspired,” he said.

The 14-track album was recorded at Paul Drama for Jesus (DFJ) Media, a South African independent label.
Metamorphic is an artiste under the label.

He said after he found his identity in Christ, he joined the DFJ ministry and has travelled to share the Gospel in some of the most poverty-stricken and drug-infested neighbourhoods in South Africa.

He said the album was mostly inspired by his life and his experiences on the streets of Johannesburg.
“The album is inspired by my life and how I grew up and stories that I see happening on the streets of Johannesburg on how people try to make ends meet and make a living,” he said.

The Christian rapper said he used music to share faith and to reach places that other styles could not.
“Unlike secular/mainstream rap, which frequently glorifies sex, drinking, violence and drugs, my music focuses on delivering people from all of those things, and that’s Jesus Christ of Nazareth,” he said.

He said fans should expect songs like Fresh, Chasing my dream and How I get down, among other tracks.
From a young age, Metamorphic claims he had a love for Christian rap music. From listening to writing to recording, his journey took him through high school and college on to the big stage. His first national release hit stores in 2009 when he produced two mixtapes, Growing Up and Look On Us, which were mainly pushed on social networks.

The rapper said his music would be selling on Amazon tomorrow and on iTunes on 20 September.
