METRO Hypermarket held the final grand draw of its inaugural Mutsindo Sisindo Jackpot Promotion on Friday last week, rewarding more than 200 of its customers from across the country with an array of prizes.

The promotion, which ran from April 2 to May 30, attracted widespread participation from shoppers at Metro Hypermarket and Gain Cash and Carry’s 107 branches nationwide.

Prizes on offer included 26 Nissan Dayz vehicles, three Nissan NV350 vans, two three-wheelers, 47 motorbikes and 36 solar systems, while every branch also gave away 1KVA solar generators.

Customers also won US$20 shopping vouchers in weekly draws, while others participated in the spin-the-wheel promotions where they won groceries instantly.

Winners emerged from various parts of the country, including Beitbridge, Victoria Falls, Nyamapanda, Gokwe, Kadoma, Chegutu and Masvingo, reflecting the promotion’s nationwide reach.

The Mutsindo Sisindo Jackpot Promotion marks the retailer’s first major customer rewards campaign of its kind and was designed to appreciate customer loyalty while enhancing the shopping experience.

Winners were selected through an electronic draw conducted live on Metro Hypermarket’s Facebook platform in the presence of auditors to ensure transparency.

In an interview, Gain Cash and Carry Head of Marketing, Mr Carl Kusada, said the promotion was introduced as a way of rewarding loyal customers and institutions supporting the business.

“This was actually our very first edition of the Mutsindo Sisindo Jackpot Promotion after we realised the great support that our customers, shoppers, institutions and Government departments are giving us,” he said.

“So this is our way of giving back to our valued partners, customers and shoppers. One of the things that we decided to do with this promotion was to ensure that we have a lot of prizes and a lot of winners.”

Mr Kusada said Gain invested over US$500 000 towards the promotion, with suppliers also heavily supporting the initiative.

He said prizes were distributed across all branches to ensure customers nationwide benefited.

“We wanted to make sure that out of our 107 branches, there are prizes per branch,” said Mr Kusada.

“Every branch had a 1KVA solar generator and depending on branch size, the first prizes differed. We had 24 branches giving away Nissan Dayz vehicles, 47 motorbikes and 36 solar systems.”

Mr Kusada said national prizes included three Nissan NV350 vans, two three-wheelers, motorbikes and Nissan Dayz vehicles.

“The electronic draw showed us that there are winners across Zimbabwe, from Beitbridge to Victoria Falls, Nyamapanda, Gokwe, Kadoma and Masvingo,” he said.

“We are very happy to see all these people winning these cars and other prizes.”

He said the retailer would continue running promotions, with farmer and liquor promotions lined up before the festive season campaign.

Mr Kusada attributed Gain’s growth to commitment, supplier relationships and expansion into different parts of the country.

“We keep grinding, establishing good relationships with suppliers and increasing our network of branches to ensure we reach every corner of the country,” he said.

Representing Zimbabwe Sugar Sales, Mr July Chikume said supporting the promotion was important as Gain remained one of the company’s biggest customers.

“It was very important for us to be in this promotion because we also grew in volumes and sales were huge,” he said.

National Foods representative Mr Fortune Magondo said the initiative had helped grow volumes for several brands while strengthening customer engagement.

“This promotion was a very good initiative for us because we participated with multiple brands and managed to grow our volumes during the promotion and we get to give back to our customers,” he said.
