SEASONED body-builder Godwin Simba Mhaka has arrived in Chicago, United States ahead of this weekend’s World Fitness Federation Mr Universe set for Las Vegas tomorrow and Sunday.
The hulk is set to defend his title in the Warrior Fitness World Fitness Championship won in Berlin, Germany last year.
Mhaka’s main category is the Senior Men Bermuda and he came second in last year’s edition. He is confident of doing well again this year.
Affectionately known as “GS” in the fitness community, Mhaka said he was ready to fight for gold and has been in the gym for some time.
“The preparations went well, and I am looking forward to the contest. I had some little challenges in terms of dieting but I managed.
“So, far I am at 100 percent and I will try hard to improve by conditioning. But I still feel there is a lot that needs to be done if I’m to go there and win gold.
“Last year I competed and came first in Warrior Fitness and second in Bermuda and I am looking forward to repeating the same this year.
“I am looking forward to winning gold in my main category Bermuda, then another gold in the Warrior Fitness, and this is a great show because it will have top athletes from around the world,” said Mhaka.
The Kwekwe-born body-builder had some challenges ahead of the trip but was rescued by some individuals and one corporate.
“I have to be extremely prepared, more than I was in the last competition and I’m positive that I am going to give my best shot. I’m going to win gold and make my country proud.
Resources have been a big challenge.
“Total Fitness Gym has been sponsoring me ahead of this prestigious contest and I’m very grateful to them although they cannot cover everything.
“I will be competing in one of the biggest body-building shows in the world which makes me proud,” added Mhaka.
The WFF Mr Universe will see over 200 athletes from over 38 countries battling for podium finishes.
