Mhangura man up for stocktheft

A MHANGURA man yesterday appeared in court in Chinhoyi for allegedly stealing 19 beasts worth $9 800. Andrea Matore (50) of Plot No. 21 Champman Farm in Mhangura was not asked to plead when he appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Ms Patience Chirimo. Matore was remanded in custody to November 30.

Prosecutor Mr Eugiene Moyo alleged that on November 9 and 10 this year, Matore and his three accomplices – Takawira Karimba, Alexio Chitenga and Chenjerai Karemba – who are still at large, allegedly stole the beasts from Plot T32 and T33, Cecilmore Farm in Doma.

The matter came to light when the authorities at an abattoir in Chinhoyi demanded police clearance before buying the cattle.

Matore and his accomplices allegedly produced fake clearance papers, resulting in the abattoir reporting them to police.
