Mhere’s US tour postponed

constraints he is facing. He said he was currently running around to raise the necessary fares and we are now delaying by a week,” he said.

The musician said the postponement has, however, not dampened his mood saying he was eagerly waiting to stage his debut international show. “I heard that my music is receiving heavy rotation among Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora. I can’t wait to meet my fans in the Diaspora,” he said.

“I am happy to be invited to perform in the US. It clearly shows my music is being appreciated by people from all walks of life. God has plans for this tour, so we are going to give our best,” he said.

Mhere has been on a whirlwind staging shows across the country preparing for the tour. Only last Sunday, he ignited Chiredzi with a spirited performance.

“We had a very busy month preparing for this tour. Last weekend we performed in three different cities – Chinhoyi, Marondera and Bulawayo. We want to make sure that we also stage shows in Kariba and Beitbridge before we go on tour,” he said.

Mhere is expected to play an array of his songs that include “Favour”, “Vimba naJehova”, “Chipostora” and “Areka” among others.

From the time he released his album “Anoita Minana”, Mhere’s music has been rocking the clubs, watering holes and commuter omnibuses. It is, however, the messages on the tracks that have touched the hearts of fans.

The song “Vimba NaJehovha” talks about the deceptive nature of humankind. In it, the artiste urges people to invest their trust in God alone. “Usavimbe nemunhu mukoma, munhu anokurasisa/Judas wandaidya naye, ndiye wazondirasisa,” he sings in the song.

“Chipostora” urges people to seek wisdom from their forebearers as well as from the wise words of the earliest apostles and prophets. “Munongotichengeta” praises the Lord for guarding over His people in both trying and good times.

There is no end in accolades coming the musician’s way as he was recently appointed ambassador by the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Housing Association.
