President Mugabe’s US$27 million Well Wishers Input Scheme.
The constituency received 30 tonnes of maize seed that was handed over to the villagers by legislator Cde Sylvester Nguni.
President Mugabe launched the scheme to support poor farmers for the 2011/12 farming season.
Addressing the villagers, Cde Nguni hailed President Mugabe’s support saying it sought to ensure every household was self-reliant.

He said they were expecting a bumper harvest this season.
“This is a welcome development that is going to assist us in food security. With such a boost, our agricultural season will be a better one as the President is trying by all means to make us self reliant,” he said.
He urged the villagers to make use of the inputs, most of which will be allocated to youths and vulnerable groups.
Cde Nguni challenged the beneficiaries to work hard to make “land reform a success.”
“Let us put the inputs to good use. Most of you were failing to raise money for inputs and this would go a long way in assisting you.
“There are some people who do not want to see the land reform succeeding and this is your chance to show that we are capable of feeding ourselves,” he said.
“We are also targeting youths and child-headed families in the community as they are the most vulnerable.
“We do not want the youths to engage in illegal activities, which is why we always want to find them something meaningful to do,” he said.
The families received 10kg bags of maize seed each.
Chief Mashayamombe urged the beneficiaries not to resale the inputs.
“Some without developmental minds are now thinking of selling and this is not tolerated in the party (Zanu-PF). Don’t be shortsighted, think of tomorrow,” he said.
A beneficiary, Mr Tendai Chitemu said: “We are going to try our best in increasing our yields. This is great work from the President, which must be paid back by good harvests.
“The good thing is that we are learning great things each season and we will strive for the better.”
“It is our hope that we are also going to get the fertiliser during the farming season.”
