The Mhondoro-Ngezi Rural District Council has set its sights on opening fuel stations and a truck inn to boost revenue inflows.
The council runs a number of successful income-generating projects.
According to RDC chairman Alderman Ephraim Chengeta’s report for the third quarter, council is keen on starting additional revenue-generating ventures.
He said increasing the number of income-generating projects will lessen the burden on ratepayers.
Alderman Chengeta said the service stations would be constructed at Donain Business Centre and at Battlefields.
“Additional income-generating projects, namely, tillage, harvesting and apiculture business ventures have been envisaged.
“The ultimate objective is two- pronged. Firstly, to reduce significantly the weigh down on ratepayers for income to sustain council’s operations.
“Secondly, to provide sustainable quality services as profits are time and again going to be ploughed back to benefit the council’s clientele,” said Alderman Chengeta.
Other projects run by council include borehole drilling expected to generate $300 000 this year.
Council also owns a service station at Mamina Growth Point and a farm from which it harvested 17 tonnes of wheat recently.
