AWARD-winning South African music group Mi Casa arrived in Bulawayo yesterday for their performance at the Amphitheatre tonight.

Speaking at a press conference at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in Bulawayo, the group which will perform with Alaina, Asaph, DJ Stavo, Mzoe 7 and Guluva 7 said they were upbeat ahead of their performance.

Currently topping the charts with their Barman hit-track, Mi Casa which comprises singer J Something, trumpeter Mo T and Dr Duda revealed plans to collaborate with Ammara Brown and rapper Tehn Diamond during their stay here. Ammara and Tehn Diamond were expected in the city last night.

Top producer, Percy Ncube has already been identified for the project to be done at Velocity Studio in Bulawayo.

J Something said they had chosen Ammara and Tehn as they fit into their vision of uniting Africa through music.

“I spent time on YouTube, weeks before this Bulawayo gig, trying to find out who we could work with. Ammara Brown and Tehn Diamond were exactly what I was looking for,” said J Something.

On YouTube, Ammara Brown’s collaboration with Tytan for hit song Mukoko has garnered over 100 000 views since its release and has been played on Channel O and Mtv Base.

J Something said they needed Bulawayo artistes whom they could work with for their future productions, a task the group has given to fans tonight to choose the best.

The soft spoken artiste said they were honoured to share the stage with Oliver Mtukudzi at a show in Zambia adding that given an opportunity, they would want to collaborate with him.

“The highlight of my career was in Zambia when Oliver Mtukudzi approached us at a Jazz Festival to say we had done well on stage. It was a great privilege to meet him.

“He’s someone we as Africans should be proud of. It’s a dream for us to work with Mtukudzi and that’s the next stop for us to creating magic with him.”

Mi Casa has proved to be model representatives of African unity. Recently they not only gave a satisfying performance on their visit to Rwanda, but also visited that country’s orphanages where they spent a day with children. They taught them how to code on their computers and sang and danced with them.

He said they would also visit an orphanage in Bulawayo and do the same there.

“Doing a show is all fun, but you need to leave memories of the good that you’ve done. We’re trying to use proceeds from our shows to leave something behind as we want to build wells that last for three years for communities,” said J Something.

“We’re going to be visiting orphanages in Bulawayo and see what we can do to assist them.” Mi Casa is expected to return to South Africa on Sunday.
