Leading American software manufacturer Microsoft Corporation is set to open an office in Zimbabwe and partner Government in the use of information technology (IT) solutions to improve efficiency as well as to reduce software piracy.
This is also aimed at easing the implementation of reforms under the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio- Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset) through the use of ITs.
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Commissioner-General Gershem Pasi made the remarks during a meeting yesterday with Microsoft Corporation vice president for Middle East and Africa Mr Ali Faramawy and his team in Harare.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda and other senior Government officials.
Comm-Gen Pasi said the multinational corporation would support Zimbabwe to improve efficiency and minimise IT costs by centralising and standardising IT solutions across Government.
He said the IT packages would also come with security enhancements to curb piracy and provide an enabling environment for the deployment of an integrated, result-based management system as outlined under Zim-Asset.
