The Zanu-PF Midlands provincial leadership is gearing for primary elections that will be held on May 5 and is already reaching out to districts to update them about the upcoming polls. Provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri said there were presently scheduled meetings with party structures at district level to spell out guidelines for the primary elections.

“We were given the date for our party primaries and now as the province, we are having inter-district meetings where we are spelling out the guidelines for the elections,” said Cde Mpereri.

“Our leadership at national level forwarded us a list of guidelines, which promote free and fair elections and this is what we are going around educating the electorate on.

“The leadership has emphasised on free and fair elections and everyone is much excited and is eager to go.
“We have also advised aspiring candidates to campaign using stipulated guidelines, which promote peace and fairness.”
Cde Mpereri said aspiring candidates were still coming with their CVs with the number swelling yesterday ahead of the deadline.

“Our members are very much interested and we are still receiving CVs,” he said.
