Midlands Show moved to next month

Midlands Bureau Chief
The Midlands Show has been postponed to next month due to harmonised elections to be held on 31 July. In an interview on Monday, the show manager, Mrs Victoria Chikukwa, said the annual showcase which, beginning this year, will be held over four days, would start on 8 August ending on 11 August.

The show was originally set to run from 25 July to 28 July.
Mrs Chikukwa said preparations for the annual showcase will continue as per the initial schedule.

Mrs Chikukwa said the commencement of business and judging of stands will still be held on the opening day of the event, while on the following day, the show would host a Business Opportunities in the Midlands Conference.

“We have postponed the show to August. We now open proceedings on Thursday 8 August and end our programme on Sunday 11 August. Most of the programme remains unchanged, save for the new dates,” she said.

The Business Opportunities in the Midlands seeks to unpack business opportunities that exist in the Midlands.
“This is a must-attend event for serious business people, especially those seeking viable markets for the expansion of their businesses. In the evening of the same day, we will host an exhibitors’ reception.”

Mrs Chikukwa said the Midlands Show was getting better with each passing year and urged members of the public to attend in their numbers.
She said the 2013 edition of the show had attracted many new exhibitors from Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru.

More than 85 percent of the space available had already been taken by the beginning of this month.
Mrs Chikukwa said inquiries for space were still flowing.

She said the show management team was expecting more exhibitors from this year’s event, hence their decision to increase the number of the show days.

Dendera music maestro, Suluman “Sulu” Chimbetu and musician of the moment Jah Prayzer of the Tsviriyo fame, form part of the impressive line-up of artistes who will entertain show visitors.

Sulu will perform on Friday while Jah Prayzer will be the closing act performing on Sunday.
This year’s four-day event will be held under the theme, Promoting Economic and Sustainable Development. Unki Mines general manager Mr Walter Nemasase will be the guest of honour.
