Midlands Show opens on a low note

The Midlands Show kicked-off on a low note on the opening day yesterday with mostly children turning out in their numbers to enjoy various games on offer. Most children were busy playing at the jumping castles, horse riding and at the Luna Park while a limited number of adults took time to visit stands. There were also some soccer games to entertain the crowd at the main arena pitting high schools from Kwekwe and Gweru as well as some lower division teams.
Exhibitors who were largely relaxed yesterday expressed hope that business would pick up today.

The show management team, however, managed to conduct and conclude the judging of stands yesterday.
The Midlands Show will host the Business Opportunities in the Midlands Conference this morning at a local hotel in Gweru while later in the evening they will host an exhibitors’ reception.

The business conference is an indaba that seeks to unpack the business opportunities that exist in the Midlands.
On the entertainment side, musician of the moment Jah Prayzah of the Tsviriyo fame, failed to stage his opening show as advertised and is now expected to perform today.

Dendera music maestro, Suluman “Sulu” Chimbetu is also expected to perform at the show.
This year’s four-day event is being held under the theme, Promoting Economic and Sustainable Development.

Unki Mines general manager, Mr Walter Nemasase who is the guest of honour, is expected to officially open the show tomorrow.
