THE Midlands Pool Association will hold a provincial challenge tournament at Club Uptown this evening.
It is an event for the top four placed clubs in the Midlands and Bulawayo pool leagues.Each province will also provide a women’s select side.
Bulawayo will be represented by Kings, Entumbane, Zimbabwe Republic Police and Exchange.
The hosts will have their hopes pinned on Senga, Midlands State University, Uptown and Kudzanayi.
Passmore Ndebvu, the Midlands Pool Association’s fixtures spokesperson, said that the Midlands team will be looking at using their home advantage and support to dominate the visitors whom they have previously played second fiddle to.
“We’re playing host to Bulawayo and that’s an advantage to us, we’ve support and I’m confident that our clubs will win the tournament,” said Ndebvu.
Ndebvu said the clubs would play 11 trays each. In essence there will be four doubles’ matches and seven singles while the women will engage over seven trays.
Ndebvu said that the club that wins the tournament will walk away with $300, second position $200, third placed $60 with the fourth placed club getting $40 while in the women’s category winners will be rewarded with $80 and $20 for the best player.
