Dube to trade leather with Capetonian

Sports Reporter
AN unnamed Cape Town based boxer has agreed to trade leather with ex-Zimbabwe and Pan African heavyweight champion Thamsanqa Dube in Durban, South Africa tonight.Dube sneaked out of the country last month, relocating to South Africa in a move meant to resuscitate his once promising career having been on the sidelines for three years.

Information gathered from Boxing South Africa records show that there are three pugilists from Cape Town who are in the running to fight Dube at short notice.

Eastern Cape provincial champion Unathi Jacobs, Sithembele August and Ivan Strydom are reportedly seeking ring action and one of them will fight Dube whose last match was in August 2011 when he was knocked out by South Africa’s Flo Simba.

“As you may be aware it was at short notice and the guys from Cape Town have said they are bringing a boxer from that side to fight Thamu (Dube).

“He’s been training at our Bronx Gym for a while and I believe he’s ready for any opponent. He knows that this fight is a make-or-break one as he tries to revive his career,” said Johannesburg based World Boxing Federation African heavyweight champion Elvis “Bulawayo Bomber” Moyo.
